I have just returned from the orientation course in Sydney for ETL 401 and ETL 503.Wow what a learning curve. I met some great people most of them from the country. We spent dinner and breakfasts together and managed to begin a lasting (I hope )network of T.L. s. One of the activities at the course was to identify our strengths and weaknesses, so right now I see myself as a good networker, am good at networking, love reading and learning new things, love the internet and am quite OK with I.T. My fears are of writing assignments , not getting enough sleep, not enough time and lacking in confidence to do a Uni course 30 years further on!
I see opportunities to learn so much more about the role of TL and running a library.
Ihave expectations of receiving help and support in order to pass and I expect to learn heaps about libraries.
Last night at dinner the conversation turned to the TL role and Information Literacy and my cousin agreed that in todays world it was imperative that children become information literate in order to survive and not be left behind. We are also really in the beginning of the IT explosion and who knows where it will lead!
